The site of Munich’s Main Synagogue.
One of the city’s major landmarks and the third largest synagogue in the country, the dates inscribed on this commemorative stone reveal its fate and those of other places of Jewish worship in Germany.
The building was demolished in June 1938 (to make way for a car park), its destruction paving the way for the events of ‘Kristallnacht’ (9th/10th November 1938).
